Queens Must Rule The World

One commentator said : ‘The Malawian Queens are a marvel to watch, what they do with their bodies and the ball is simply ecstatic. They have a unique play, not simple to copy. only them can do it

One day is one day.

imageOne day the Malawi Netball Queens will rule the netball world. When I saw them ending a 2014 Commonwealth Games match 4 points away from beating the mighty New Zealand, I knew the Queens are mighty in their own right. When I saw the Queens displaying great talent and promise against the towering Jamaicans, I knew the Queens are just “inches” away from ruling the world.

This dream will not be achieved only through cheering or throwing money at the Queens as a team but also deliberate and meticulous grassroots development and scouting of talent. This is why in 2013 I started sponsoring the netball team from my Makupete Village in Thondwe, Zomba and the Schools Netball Challenge for Thondwe Youth Skills Development Organization (THOYODO). I implore those who are inspired by the Queens’ performance on the world stage to join by leading similar initiatives in their communities. It does not take too much. Most of the times all the community and school netball teams need is decent uniform(s) and a netball or a few.

We can do this!
